Meet with candidate to review the entire process.  Inform the

candidate that you will need eight names of external reviewers by

April 1 and will need the cv, teaching statement, research

statement, and copies of scholarship by June 1.  Begin process of

coordination of joint reviews.

Names of eight external reviewers needed from candidate. 

Appoint promotion review panel (or members from your unit to joint

tenure panel) and begin to assemble list of external reviewers. 

Begin to contact reviewers informally to determine their availability

or work with other unit on reviewer contact.

   
June 1

CV, teaching statement, research statement, and copies of

scholarship submitted by candidate.  Send out materials to

external reviewers, with a September 1 deadline for receipt of

letters.  Continue to coordinate if joint review.

   
September 1

External letters due and shared between joint-appointing units.

   
Sept 1-Oct 1

Promotion panel or joint promotion panel reviews case and

prepares single report.

   
October 1

Preliminary summary provided to candidate, who is given two

weeks to respond in writing.

   
November 12

Faculty vote in all relevant units.

   
Nov 12-Jan 5

Compose chair’s cover letter and assemble promotion dossier, or

collaborate with joint-appointing unit in doing these.

   
January 5 Single promotion dossier due to Dean’s Office.
