Organizing and Integrating Information

Concept Mapping "Concept-Mapping" is a tool for assisting and enhancing many of the types of thinking and learning that we are required to do at university. To do a Map, write the main idea in the centre of the page -- it may be a word, a phrase, or a couple of juxtaposed ideas, for example -- then place related ideas on branches that radiate from this central idea.

List Structures Logical association is one of the most powerful aids to recall. Some disciplines actually require you to know such material.  Strategies for learning material that, on the surface, seems impossible to categorize.

Tables.  Sample tables for organizing information from a variety of fields in the humanities, social sciences and natural sciences.

Sequential Diagramming A strategy for reproducing complex patterns or sequences from memory.

Hierarchical Outline Keep track of the most important ideas and the connections among the supporting data.
