lsa-swl2 Troubleshooting
Having trouble connecting to lsa-swl2? Here's some things to verify:
- lsa-swl2 is an AFP server, not SMB. The correct URL to connect to it is
afp://lsa-swl2.lsa.umich.edu- be sure you're typing the fully qualified domain name as shown here. - Is DAVE installed on the client? (It shouldn't be)
- What's the IP address of the machine? (lsa-swl2 is only reachable from known on-campus networks)
- Do you have access? Not everyone has lsa-swl2 access by default. Send email to lsa-dev-osx requesting access if you don't have it.
- Is the date and time correct on the client? (must be accurate within 5 minutes)
- Is the timezone correct on the client? (EDT/EST)
- What version of the OS is the machine running?
- Is our Kerberos package installed on the machine? You can get a copy here: http://www.lsa.umich.edu/lsait/admin/mac/software/umich.asp
It's also quite possible that you have an older version of the edu.mit.Kerberos file that still contains the LSA.UMICH.EDU Kerberos realm (it shouldn't). If that's the case, just install the pkg linked above. - Is there another Kerberos identity already authenticated? Open /Applications/Utilities/Kerberos and destroy any existing tickets
- Can you successfully get a Kerberos ticket? (You should see an entry for
krbtgt/UMICH.EDU@UMICH.EDUin the Kerberos app) - When you attempt to connect, are you getting an AFP service ticket? (You should see an entry for
afpserver/lsa-swl2.lsa.umich.edu@UMICH.EDUin the Kerberos app) - Is there an edu.mit.Kerberos file present in the Library/Preferences of the user's home directory? (there shouldn't be - delete it)
- Try removing the following files if present: ~/Library/Preferences/edu.mit.Kerberos.KerberosApp.plist, ~/Library/Preferences/edu.mit.Kerberos.KerberosLogin.plist (note the ~ indicating both are in your home directory)
