OSX Lab Meeting April 26, 2004 Present: Scott, Jeff, Suleman, Gretchen, Jan, Dave P We're getting close to being done.... Most packages are done LUMA decision: no reason to come up with a printer solution - every department needs to do their own. Suleman's windows link pkg - he's meeting with Ron today to switch himself to UMROOT for testing Openfirmware: don't know if we're still going to do a pkg. Not a showstopper - just do it manually until a automated pkg is done Some docs for doing it manually: http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/apple/openfirmwarepassword.html http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=120095 http://www.macos.utah.edu/Documentation/macosx/security/openfirmware.html http://www.securemac.com/openfirmwarepasswordprotection.php Dave needs to do training to show departments how to do department specific loads for themselves. There will be no college-wide lab load. Dave will train everyone, Gretchen will write up docs. Gretchen got radmind documentation done.... Carla will be happy to include any user docs into the standard suite of college docs Jeff: almost finished with AFS home links pkg... will not include ~/Library/Favorites... Will also include an afs-cell override in the plist. Jeff's pkg will NOT do any creating/deletion of homedirs - the labhomedirs pkg will take care of all that Jan: still has to do: ssh term sessions logout M button mulberry Problem: Office takes a long time to start up because of the font lists it has to create for each user Finished packages should just go into lsa-swl2:Packages Complete/TESTING/ for now... It'd be nice to create some scripts (or whatever) for uploading "the current session" (or parts of it) back up to the user template The college will set up a college-wide radmind server. The college will maintain the radmind SERVICE, but none of the loads (except the server load). Each department will maintain their own loadset.
