Below is a list of the groups, consortiums, and associations within the University that focus on computing.

IT Commons
An association of Information Technology providers whose plan is to develop the University's information technology infrastructure and provide quality services to the entire U-M community

The Center for Parallel Computing (CPC)
Specializes in the development and utilization of parallel computing technology for scientific and engineering applications

Media Union
Brings together information resources, information technology, production studios, and the combined talents of information professionals from across campus units to serve the University community.

External Collaborations

Below is a list of the groups, consortiums, and associations external to the University that focus on computing.

Common Solutions Group
Representatives from large colleges and universities who meet informally to discuss issues related to information technology

Committee on Institutional Cooperation (CIC), IT Activities
A member-funded consortium of the "Big Ten" universities which meets to discuss iniatives related to Information Technology, including high performance computing, security, learning technologies, and research computing

EDUCAUSE
Provides a source of specialized professional information, colleague perspectives, and networking opportunities.

The National Partnership for Advanced Computational Infrastructure (NPACI)
Oversees the formation of a researcher-focused national computational infrastructure; coordinated with the National Computational Science Alliance, the other PACI partnership led by the National Center for Supercomputing Applications (NCSA)

The National Computational Science Alliance (NCSA)
A partnership among more than 50 U.S. universities and research institutions to prototype the computational and information infrastructure of the next century
