Please note: Minors are welcome to participate in volunteer activities at Matthaei-Nichols under the following guidelines.
Minors must be at least 16 years of age to volunteer without parent or guardian supervision.
Minors 16 and 17 years of age must work in a group setting with staff present during volunteer shift.
Minors under 16 must work directly with a parent or guardian on select volunteer activities.
All minors must submit a signed Youth Volunteer Permission Form prior to volunteering.
Every individual under the age of 18, whether in employment or volunteer status, who has not graduated from high school is considered a minor and must have a work permit on or before the first day of service in order to perform work at the University (UM Standard Practice Guide 2008).

More info We host monthly stewardship events at the Arb (2nd Saturday) and Gardens (3rd Saturday) from 9 to noon. Activities include the removal of non-native invasive plants to help preserve our native ecosystems. Education, tools and snacks provided! No orientation required.
