Eric, Mary and Jennifer preparing initial concept designs

Mary Walton, a Masters of Landscape Architecture Student, is in the process of designing a new children's garden to be located on the south side of the Conservatory at the Matthaei Botanical Gardens. The project is currently in the design phase and site preperation is scheduled to begin this fall. Be sure to check back for periodic project updates.

Jennifer Austin, also a Masters of Landscape Architecture Student, is designing the following display gardens: Woodland Wildflower Garden (featuring native woodland plant species and a boardwalk through part of the Fleming Creek floodplain), Prairie Wildflower Garden (featuring a more formal design intended to demonstrate to visitors the potential of prairie plants in their gardens and yards), and Michigan Endemics Garden (featuring various Michigan shoreline habitats like dunes and limestone alvars). Each are still in the design process with plans to begin installing the prairie wildflower garden this fall or next spring.
