Your Gift Makes a Difference!

Matthaei Botanical Gardens and Nichols Arboretum (MBGNA) relies on the generosity and involvement of donors for all that we do. From membership gifts that provide discretionary money to be used wherever the need or opportunity is greatest, to major gifts that dramatically further our mission, your gifts make a difference.

Donors made possible the generous land gifts for our sites, first the Nichols family in 1906 and then from the Matthaei family fifty years later. To name just a few, the Conservatory, the Reader Center, the Peony and Gateway Gardens, Heathdale and the Herb Knot Garden, riverfront and trail improvements as well as education programs and scholarships all have been made possible through gifts. And because MBGNA is part of the University of Michigan, your gift goes further here. U-M covers our operating expenses, so your donation goes directly to the things you love most.

Membership in The Friends of Matthaei Botanical Gardens and Nichols Arboretum is a great way to help sustain our organization while receiving numerous discounts and benefits. What better way to honor a loved one than to provide joy and comfort to visitors in a beautiful natural setting?... Leave a lasting legacy to a well-loved place through planned giving. Planned giving offers the opportunity to make a larger gift than is possible within one's lifetime... Endowments are a wonderful way to make a lasting gift. We have endowments to provide for research, caring of gardens and natural areas and student scholarships. You can create an endowment for $25,000 and that money will grow each year. Your gift will last a lifetime... The The Michigan Difference campaign goal for Matthaei Botanical Gardens & Nichols Arboretum is $3.7 million. Capital projects identified for funding include an amphitheatre, boardwalk, road improvements and riverfront restoration at the Arboretum; and conservatory roof reglazing and mechanical improvements, and new attractions at the Gardens; plus trail and sign improvements at both locations...
