Gifts to Matthaei-Nichols help provide for places of hope that encourage environmental action while offering restorative landscapes.

bonsai challenge

Your gift to care for the trees in the Matthaei Botanical Gardens Bonsai and Penjing Garden can be doubled this summer and fall! Jerry and Rhona Meislik will donate up to $10,000 to match gifts that are given or pledged by November 25, 2014. To qualify for the match, gifts or gift commitments must be at least $500 and paid within the next 3-4 years.

The endowment specifically funds the care and maintenance of the collection. The endowment goal is $800,000, which will fund a half-time horticulture specialist, materials, and visits with leading bonsai practitioners for direction on artistry and health. Currently Matthaei has raised nearly 25% of that goal, about $167,000.
