Gifts to Matthaei-Nichols help provide for places of hope that encourage environmental action while offering restorative landscapes.

bonsai challenge - success!

Many thanks to all those who helped us reach our $10,000 Bonsai Challenge goal last month. Jerry and Rhona Meislik created the challenge, which matched donations of $500 or more.

Challenge funds will enrich our bonsai garden endowment for the care and maintenance of the trees in the Matthaei Botanical Gardens Bonsai and Penjing Garden. The endowment goal is $800,000, which will fund a half-time horticulture specialist, materials, and visits with leading bonsai practitioners for direction on artistry and health. Currently Matthaei has raised nearly 25% of that goal, about $190,000.

You can make a gift to the Bonsia Garden anytime online.
