Legacy of the Land through Art

Saturday, October 12-Sunday, November 10
Daily 10 am–4:30 pm; Wednesday until 8 pm
Matthaei Botanical Gardens
1800 N. Dixboro Rd.

Legacy Land Conservancy and the University of Michigan Matthaei Botanical Gardens & Nichols Arboretum present Legacy of the Land Through Art, a special exhibition of art that celebrates the generosity of local private landowners who have protected their land in perpetuity.

Drawing inspiration from these protected properties, 43 artists who live or work in Washtenaw and Jackson counties created works in a variety of media that reveal the connection between land and people—a shared mission of both Legacy Land Conservancy and the Arb & Gardens. The selected artists represent an array of media, from oil and pastel to acrylic, photography, and others.

Legacy Land Conservancy permanently protects forests, farmland fields, streams, prairies, and waters in Washtenaw and Jackson Counties. This year Legacy Land Conservancy is undertaking several projects to explore and celebrate the benefits that a connection to these lands brings.

The exhibition is free and open to the public. All works are available for purchase.
