Nature's Armature The University of Michigan Matthaei Botanical Gardens invites student sculptors to submit work interpreting the theme “Nature’s Armature.” An armature is both a sculptural framework and a protective covering for plants and animals. Sculptors are asked to interpret this duality of frame and skin in artwork which can support the many forms of nature. Materials and concepts can range from the synthetic to the natural. Works submitted will be installed in an area of the Display Gardens from May through September 2008. Click here to download the application.

Sept 2007 Once again, Kate Mendeloff directed another performance for this year's studnet-only performance of Shakespeare in the Arb! This year's traveling performance was The Tempest. Click here for additional information.

Apr 2007 In April 3 U-M students, Jake Serwer, Ben Friedman and Sam Roston, took top honors in the adult category of the Miller’s Creek Film Festival with their film River Bank Rescue. The film details work to repair the Huron River shoreline at the Arboretum’s River Landings. Congratulations to these young film makers. And thanks for thinking that our story was important enough to tell.
