The University of Michigan Matthaei Botanical Gardens and Nichols Arboretum
In spring, Matthaei and the Arb burst into life. Over 20,000 daffodils in a line emerge and bloom at the Arb The fragrance of lilacs is on the air. Woody plants show off their flowers and the peonies peak in June.

This starfish flower resides in the arid house of the Botanical Gardens Conservatory. The arid house is one of three galleries in the Conservatory, each representing one of the world’s major biomes.

  • Miracle Plants and Renegades
    All invited to a program presented by the Michigan Cactus & Succulent Society in which attendees can share stories and information about the culture of plants that were the most difficult or the easiest to grow. Attendees can also share stories about any “miracle” plants or plants that appeared to die but later came back to life. Free.
