This starfish flower resides in the arid house of the Botanical Gardens Conservatory. The arid house is one of three galleries in the Conservatory, each representing one of the world’s major biomes.

  • Feast! - A Cross-Cultural Culinary Tour of Plants Around the World
    From cinnamon in Sri Lanka to figs in ancient Rome, the winter exhibit takes a look at how plants have played an essential role in celebrations and cooking, especially during the holiday season. Activities during the exhibit include a visit from Father Christmas, food event, music on Nov. 24, seasonal flower display, member sale, kids activities, and more.

  • Holiday Open House at Matthaei
    Join us for opening weekend of our conservatory exhibit Feast! at Matthaei Botanical Gardens. Members' sale in the Garden Store; live music  11 am-2 pm, 11/24 & 25 in the Conservatory; holiday tree and flower display; Spinner's Flock fiber art sale; and more. Learn about food plants of the world used in celebration and ceremony in our exhibit Feast! - A Cross-Cultural Culinary Tour of Plants Around the World, through Jan. 6.
