- 2012 U-M Nichols Arboretum Peony Festival
The Peony Festival this year celebrates the 90th anniversary of the famed Nichols Arboretum Peony Garden, the largest collection of antique and heirloom peonies in North America. The festival also features free staff-led and self-guided tours, cut-flower display in the Reader Center, and more. Free admission. Nichols Arboretum is open sunrise to sunset.

A youth gardening program open to children ages 9 - 11 as of 1/1/2012. Hands-on, project-based classes provide a high-quality learning experience that helps kids discover the fun of gardening and the importance of volunteering. Six classes, May 8th to June 12th,and a salad party on June 19th; followed by two garden sessions per month through mid-September. $40.00 per child; application deadline April 30th.
