what's in bloom
Winter is a great time to take a stroll and appreciate the conifers along the trails at the Arb and Gardens. If you wish to avoid the chill of winter, stop into the Conservatory at the Gardens to experience the sights and smells of plants from all over the world.

a whimsical garden display

June 19 throughout the summer

What: Nature and laughter are the best medicine this summer at Matthaei, where our whimsical garden will bring a smile to your face.

On display are fantastic topiary creatures such as Nessie the garden serpent and others creatively grown and decorated by our expert horticulturists; perennial garden favorites like whirligigs and gnomes; lush seasonal plantings; and our cheekiest guests, who’ve flown in for the summer: dozens of pink flamingo lawn ornaments imaginatively themed and decorated by U-M Art School students, community members, and Ann Arbor Public School students. A must-see garden!
