Looking for some great plants to wake up your garden? Stop in throughout the month of May and early June to purchase some of the unique plants grown on our properties. If you're not a member, there's never been a better time to join. Arb and Gardens' member receive a 10% discount on all spring plant sale purchases. Members can also visit our participating vendor, Plymouth Nursery, for discounts on perennials and woody plants (see below).

Visitors and members have long requested the unique and often hard-to-find annuals that grow in our Gateway Garden at Matthaei Now's your chance to purchase the New World annuals and create waves of color in your own garden.

Kitchen Favorites Sale & Herbfest
Sat. & Sun., May 21-22, 10 am-4:30 pm
Matthaei Botanical Gardens
Support Cultivating Community, the U-M student volunteer group, and buy some great heirloom vegetables and herbs for a bumper crop in your garden this summer. Cultivating Community's mission is to empower University of Michigan students to become leaders in sustainable food systems through hands-on organic gardening, community outreach, and education. Students will be selling vegetables and herbs grown by Cultivating Community. Plus, the Herb Study Group will be hosting its Herbfest on May 21, with herbal information, refreshments, and items for sale such as used books about herbs, herbal tea, and herbal edibles.

Peonies Galore & Peony Festival
Sat. & Sun., June 4-5, 10 am-4:30 pm
Nichols Arboretum
Visitors come from hundreds of miles away to see our famous Peony Garden in the Arb. This year, you'll be able to purchase some of the same peonies that grow in the garden, thanks to a partnership with a local nursery to help make available some of the Peony Garden's antique and heirloom varieties.

Special Offer to our Members from Plymouth Nursery
As a special thank you to our members, we've partnered with the local garden store Plymouth Nursery, who will be offering a 10% discount on regularly priced perennials and woody plants throughout the month of May, 2011. Simply show your current Arb & Gardens membership card at check out to receive the discount, which may be used multiple times during the month.
