  Mother’s Day Weekend Plant Sale & Fundraiser
  A large selection of hanging baskets and containers—perfect for mom!—filled with a variety of colors and textures and grown and designed by Matthaei-Nichols staff and volunteers in-house. Plus, Mother’s Day and nature-themed items in the Garden Store at Matthaei. All proceeds benefit U-M Matthaei Botanical Gardens & Nichols Arboretum.

• Sat., & Sun., May 19 & 20, 10 am–4:30 pm
  Heirloom & Water-Wise Spring Plant Sale and Fundraiser
  Water less, grow more! Choose from perennials for shade and sun that adapt well to drier regional summer conditions and stand up to the season’s heat. Also on sale in Greenhouse 3: kitchen favorites— herbs and heirloom vegetables grown and sold by Cultivating Community, the U-M student volunteer gardening group. All proceeds support Matthaei-Nichols and Cultivating Community.

  Peonies Galore Sale
  A warm March has put our peony garden on the fast track so we’ve moved the location and date of the peony sale to Saturday, May 19 from its original location at the Arb on June 2. We’ve partnered with local nursery Northfield Farms to bring you some of the same varieties of beautiful heirloom peonies that grow in the U-M Nichols Arboretum Peony Garden. This is a very popular sale so be sure to arrive early! All proceeds benefit U-M Matthaei Botanical Gardens & Nichols Arboretum.

  Free information about herbs in room 139. Plus, herb cooking demo and tastings at 11 am, 1 pm, and 3. All Herbfest proceeds help support the Alexandra Hicks Herb Knot Garden at Matthaei.
