school programs

Tours of the Conservatory and trails at Matthaei Botanical Gardens and Nichols Arboretum are available throughout the academic year. Trained interpretive guides cover a variety of topics including basic botany, ecosystems, restoration ecology and wetlands which help you to reach Michigan education benchmarks.

Schools in which at least 40% of the students qualify for the federal Free and Reduced Lunch Program (FRLP) are eligible to apply for a scholarship to subsidize the guided school field trip. Scholarships are given on a first come basis. Please contact Liz Glynn lizglynn@umich.edu for more details.

It cannot too frequently be realized that nature is the best teacher and that even in the museum-like arboretum she can give points on arrangement.
