The Gardens' displays, natural areas, Conservatory, trails and significant buildings invite your exploration and use. These exhibits are intimately interwoven - physically, conceptually, and aesthetically. Use the links to delve into various exhibit types for your next visit - as well as to learn more about what you've already seen. The building was initially designed in 1958 and was constructed in three phases ending in 1964 with substantial funding from the National Science Foundation Flowers, gardens and restored landscapes are not only inviting in themselves, but great "natural ambassadors" to understand that how we use our land has significant impact on local ecosystems... The Michigan Solar House (MiSo*) seeks to create an affordable and customizable home which produces a surplus of renewable energy that will effectively redefine comfortable living in a manner feasible generations into the future... The farmstead contains the original settlement-period (1830s) farm house and two historic barns from the mid to late 19th Century...
