what's in bloom
Matthaei Botanical Gardens and Nichols Arboretum burst to life come spring time. The Peonies start to peek. The woody plants begin to flower. The daffodil line emerges at the Arb. Check out the bloom calendar.

James D. Reader Center at Nichols Arboretum

The library at the James D. Reader, Jr. Urban Environmental Education Center holds titles about plants, landscapes, ecosystems, stewardship and other environmental issues. There are over 3,200 cataloged books among the Benard L. Maas Foundation Reference Library and the larger collection at the Matthaei Botanical Gardens. Our electronic database is not part of the U-M Mirlyn system, and is now online for visitors to use - http://library.mbgna.umich.edu. Books at the Reader Center library are clearly noted in the database as being at the Arboretum site.

The Reader Center library is open during posted business hours. At present the books do not circulate, but you are welcome to use them in the building.

Come in and explore - we're also interested in titles you'd like to use.

Matthaei Botanical Gardens and Nichols Arboretum needs private support and provides donors with many giving opportunities and recognition. For more details, please contact the Development Office at 1-734-615-9475.
