What is the Programming Board? The Michigan Community Scholars Programming Board is a student organization sponsored by MCSP to encourage academic, social and service activities of student interest. The Programming Board meets on a weekly basis throughout the year and is open to any member of MCSP. The board has five committees which specialize in planning events for Community Service, Arts and Culture, Speaker Series, and Social activities as well as a Publicity committee which helps publicize the board's meetings and events. There are leadership positions available to first year students in each of the committees as well as board secretary, treasurer and board co-chairperson. Each first year student leader is paired with a Peer Adviser whose experience and training with MCSP helps first year students organize and execute events. However, the board is also open to any member of MCSP who would like to initiate special projects with the help of the program's resources. The MCSP Programming Board has sponsored projects such as 30 Hour Famine, service projects at campus family housing, a Simpson's episode marathon, Drama Troupe and subsidized trips to local musical and theater performances to just name a few. The Programming Board is a rewarding experience with only a minimal time commitment - meetings usually last less than an hour and every MCSP member present has a vote. So interact with future campus leaders, share in memorable experiences, have fun and make a difference with one of most diverse, exciting and active student organizations on campus. The MCSP Programming Board
was recognized as a 2001-2002 Outstanding Student Organization of the
Year by the University Department of Student Activities and Leadership. |
