Meet
the First Year Students
First
Year Students are the heart of MCSP! From the Programming
Board, classes, educational events, peer tutoring services,
and friendly student and adult staff, first year students
have the best of what Michigan has to offer to incoming freshmen. |

Meet
the Resident Advisers
| The
Resident Advisers (RAs) for the Michigan Community Scholars
Program are juniors and seniors at UM. These students live on
the floors with the residents, serve as a resource, community
builder, crisis manager, listener, and friend.
The RAs also facilitate small
discussion sections of the 1-credit UC 102 seminar in order
to help encourage communication between first-year students.
If you have a question or concern, seek out one of the
Resident Advisers.

Meet
the Community Service Peer Advisers
| The Peer Advisers
for the Michigan Community Scholars Program are sophomores and
juniors at UM. These students help the RA’s build a strong
sense of community, serve as a resource and referral agent, as well as a role model to first
year students. They can share personal experiences about the
MCSP and life at UM having just experienced this transition
just a year or two before.
The Community Service Peer Advisers
serve as site leaders for community service activities throughout
the year. With weekly meetings, they plan out individual initiatives and seek suggestions from first year students for new community service sites.

The Peer Mentors are sophomores
and juniors at UM. They are the front line of resources and
experience who are especially ready and available to help
incoming students transition to the university.
The Peer Mentors help students
in MCSP before opening and during Welcome Week. This includes
helping with the transition from high school to college, being
away from home, and answering UM specific questions. They plan
and implement special programs throughout the year and participate
in the MCSP Programming Board activities and programs.
