Leland P. Schermer is President of the law firm LELAND SCHERMER & ASSOCIATES, P.C. in Pittsburgh. He is an honors graduate of the University of Michigan, College of Engineering, and the University of Pittsburgh School of Law, where his classmates elected him the President of his class.
For 30 years, Schermer has been litigating all forms of intellectual property disputes, starting his career in New York City with the intellectual property law firm Kenyon & Kenyon. Schermer then helped start the intellectual property practice at the general practice Chicago-based law firm of McDermott, Will & Emery. He returned home to Pittsburgh to start a family in 1989, at which time he started the intellectual property practice at Dickie, McCamey & Chilcote. Schermer was a partner at the Dickie firm for 9 years. In 2001, he formed Leland Schermer & Associates, a boutique firm that specializes in intellectual property litigation.
From 1999 to 2007, Schermer was an Adjunct Professor of Law at the University of Pittsburgh where he created and taught a course entitled Trademark Protection and Litigation.
