    Sara Fitzgerald is retired after a career as a journalist and a consultant. A former editor and new media developer at The Washington Post, she is the author of the biography "Elly Peterson: 'Mother' of the Moderates," which was chosen as Michigan Notable Book of 2012. She graduated from Michigan in 1973 (LS&A).

    "My time as a Michigan in Washington mentor has been a rewarding one. The enthusiasm of the students is contagious and energizing, and I've appreciated the opportunity to get to know more fellow Michigan alums as well."
