Washington Center Residence Hall 2011

Students in the Michigan in Washington Program live in the University of California's Washington Center (UCDC) near DuPont Circle and less than a mile from the White House.  This modern facility is in a vibrant residential and commercial area, two blocks from a Metro station.  Students from California, Pennsylvania and Washington University share this 240 bed facility.

The first three floors of the building are classrooms and offices, which makes it convenient for students to attend class in the evenings after working at internships during the day.  The building provides 24 hour security and an electronic pass is required to enter the residential area on the 4th and higher levels.

The residential area consists of two-bedroom apartments, with equipped kitchenettes, dining area, living room, TV, network access in the rooms, a computer lab, a common lounge, vending machines and laundry facilities on alternate floors.  There is no meal plan in the Center; students must prepare their own meals or eat at one of the local restaurants.

Roommate assignments are made by the building manager, although students may indicate preferences when admitted to the program.  While students from the same school are generally grouped together, in some cases they are mixed with students from other schools.
