Returning MRC sophomore and junior students serve as mentors to incoming first-year students. All first-year MRC students are assigned a mentor based on their academic discipline and interests. MRC mentors play a vital role in the community by working with program staff and residents advisors to ensure first-year MRC students have a successful first year. MRC mentors do this by:
- Welcoming you to the MRC community when you move in
- Introducing you to other first-year students and to the other mentors
- Making sure you know about and participate in MRC activities
- Showing you around campus
- Helping you find and apply for UROP project
- Following up with you to help ensure your classes are going well
- Helping you find and access campus resources
- Being someone you can turn to if you need help, advice or simply a friend to hang out with
