Time's up! U-M's McAfee antivirus software license expired on June 30. If you haven't switched to Microsoft Security Essentials (MSE) on your personally owned Windows computer, your computer is vulnerable.
Go here to uninstall McAfee and install Microsoft Security Essentials (MSE). It's important, easy and FREE!
U-M's McAfee software is no longer protecting your machine from viruses. U-M no longer offers technical support for McAfee! Installing MSE now helps protect your information and avoids problems later.
What about your university-owned Windows computer?
If you DO NOT receive computer support through your department and you are the administrator of the university-owned computer you use, download Microsoft Forefront instead of MSE. Go to http://safecomputing.umich.edu/antivirus/. Forefront is part of the Microsoft antivirus suite specifically tailored for institutional security needs.
If you DO receive computer support through your department, it is likely IT support staff in your unit have already migrated your university-owned and managed computer. Contact your IT support staff if you have questions.
