- Chinese 101 pre-departure
UM students on this specially-designed program will take three classes at Peking University: an Analytical Chemistry class plus lab, a Chinese-culture course, and Chinese language. UM will give credit for Chem 241/242 and Mandarin Chinese language study continues at 2nd semester proficiency level, equivalent to UM ASIANLAN 102. The Chinese culture course may be used toward a minor in Asian Languages and Cultures. Both the Analytic Chemistry course and the Chinese culture course are existing courses Peking University, where UM students will have the unique opportunity of studying with local Chinese university students and other international students, in English. Scholarship funds are available for successful UM applicants; information will be provided after application.
