15 Michigan in-residence credits per term

  • Good academic standing
  • Background in appropriate social and natural science
  • Two semesters of college-level Spanish recommended
  • Sophomore, Junior, or Senior standing

ICADS’ Field Course in Resource Management and Sustainable Development allows students to gain research experience through lectures, fieldwork, and independent research. Research in both the natural sciences (forest ecology, agro ecology, soil sciences) and social sciences (anthropology, history, economics) by visiting various locations throughout Costa Rica. Students also enroll in an intensive Spanish language course.

Students may be able to satisfy the Program in the Environment’s (PitE) field experience requirement; contact PitE (environment.program@umich.edu) for more information.
