Enroll in this unique opportunity to study in the fascinating setting of Havana, Cuba, and to travel to major cities and towns on the island. Through a semester of coursework at Casa de las Américas, a premier research institute in Havana, students achieve an understanding of critical issues in Cuban history, culture, art, and literature. Cuba has undergone dramatic changes over the last two decades, and this program, with its exciting focus on cultural arts, ethnography, and documentary traditions, gives students the chance both to witness and document these changes, guided by internationally renowned scholars and artists who teach in the program. During the term, students will take 4 courses: 2 taught by U-M faculty and 2 offered through the Casa de las Américas. Course titles include:
