8 Michigan in-residence credits per term
- Sophomore, Junior, or Senior standing
- Minimum 2.5 GPA overall
- Minimum 2 semesters college-level Spanish
- Strong interest in health and nutrition as demonstrated through prior course selection, job experience, or other non-academic involvement
Participate on this program administered by the Committee on Institutional Cooperation (CIC). Enroll in two courses: a three-credit intensive Spanish language course and a five-credit practicum-based seminar. Educational field trips may include visits to nutrition centers, urban and rural health facilities, public and private clinics and hospitals, NGO health, sanitation, and environmental projects, organic coffee farms, and free trade zones. When possible, seminar lectures are conducted in English, although some guest lectures and many aspects of the field visits are in Spanish, with translation provided as needed.
