12-16 Michigan in-residence credits per term

  • Minimum 2.5 GPA
  • Junior/Senior standing
  • Successful completion of a previous course in Ancient Greece or Greek civilization

On this program administered by Pennsylvania State University, students attend classes, all taught in English, at the Athens Center, a non-profit educational organization offering specially designed courses in modern Greek language and Byzantine and modern Greek history. Regular Penn State faculty, on a rotating basis, also teaches on the program, in areas that reflect their expertise. These include: Greek archaeology and art, the origins of philosophy and rhetoric, Greek drama and poetry, the history of sport and athletics in Greece, the Byzantine and Ottoman Empires, Modern Greek history and contemporary Greek culture.
