15 Michigan in-residence credits per term

  • Sophomore, Junior, or Senior standing
  • Minimum 2.75 GPA
  • Minimum 2 semesters college-level Mandarin or the equivalent
  • 1 Chinese area studies course recommended

All students take a Mandarin language course taught by instructors from the University’s Language Center, with levels ranging from beginning to advanced.The language practicum helps students use their language skills outside the classroom, on visits to local sites such as temples and museums. Academic year students with advanced language proficiency have the option to work on independent study projects or internship during the second term.
