Temperature

Most countries in the world use the metric system for all kinds of measurements including temperature. The Celsius system for temperature (used virtually everywhere outside the U.S.) is based on a scale of 100, with the freezing point of water at 0 degrees and the boiling point at 100. On the Fahrenheit scale, used in the U.S., the freezing point is 32 degrees and the boiling point, 212 degrees.

To convert Celsius to Fahrenheit:

Example: If temperature is 10 degrees Celsius:

Time

In many parts of the world, time is calculated on a 24-hour system and in particular, you will notice this on train and bus schedules. To calculate time in this manner, simply add 12 to any hour past 12 noon. Therefore, six o’clock in the morning will still be 6:00. However, at 8 o’clock in the evening, your schedule will read 20:00 rather than 8:00p.m.
