Career Resources in OS

Finding a job is both an exciting and challenging process. For most of us it is the first time we are "on the market" and any help navigating through this process goes a long way. Every person is different, every job is different, and every search is different. While this university has many available resources, we have brought together a few essentials that should be helpful to OS students in specific. Below are some resources to help you get started and get out there.

Presenting Yourself

Use these templates as a starting point and build your own stellar resume and cover letters.

Job Listings

Start looking at postings to get a feel for what employers are looking for, what industries are booming, and where you might like to work and live.

Getting Help

So you have a resume, now what?
Every job seeker needs support from their network of peers and mentors. Don't be afraid to ask for help writing cover letters, tossing around ideas, and figuring out which jobs to apply for.

Check the new message board that lists upcoming job-related opportunities for OS students.
If you hear of any jobs, trainings, or networking opportunities or you just want to ask some general questions please drop an email to os.peermentors@umich.edu and the peer mentors will post them to the message board.

The Michigan Career Center offers drop in advising, mock interviews, one-on-one counsling apointments in addition to job listings, recruiting events and sample resumes.

Good luck!
