OS Speaker Series, Larry Zicklin Thursday, March 29, 2007 5:30 pm - 8:00 pm; Vandenberg Room, Michigan League Our dialogue will concern a topic that is near and dear to my heart: Namely the question as to whether or not business people are expected to tell the truth in their day to day activities. Do we accept the theory of different truths for different audiences? Are there special and unique truths for consumers, suppliers, employees, colleagues and competitors: And if so, why? Many years ago, someone said that there can be no lies when the truth is not expected to be spoken. Is that correct and do business people really assume that they speak a different language from that which is spoken in everyday life? Or are lies also the fabric of daily life and business is just part of that pattern. Prof. Zicklin is a Clinical Professor at the Stern School at New York University, a Senior Fellow at the Wharton School and a member of Duke Corporate Education's Global Learning Resource Network. His expertise is in corporate governance, professional responsbilitiy, ethics, and corporate social responsibility. This event is open to OS students and affiliated faculty. RSVP required. |
