Women in Leadership Lessons (WiLL) to host “Women Leading in Popular Media”

The Women in Leadership Lessons (WiLL) will host three special guest speakers in the media world to tell their story: cultivating their interests, finding an entry-level job, working to achieve to their current position, and discussing difficulties and advantages on being a woman in the career world. In telling their story, they will discuss how leadership has played a role in their lives and how they are a leader today: how do they advocate values? How are they an example in their industry? How do/did they overcome challenges?

Special Guests:

Lisa Gersh, president and cofounder of the Oxygen Media Network: Lisa is currently the president of strategic initiatives at NBC universal and the managing director of the Weather Channel. She is on the board of www.theknot.com and was previously the chairman of the Board of Women in Cable Television.

Kyra Dillard, DJ for Channel 95.5

Sarah Zettel, Sci-fi author: Sarah graduated from the University of Michigan in Communication Studies.

The first part of the evening (panel with three featured speakers) will be open to the public. The second part of the evening (9-10pm) will be invitation only to Organizational Studies students and faculty - a “Mix & Mingle” with our special guests. Have a chance to ask questions! WiLL (Women in Leadership Lessons): We aim to enhance the leadership skills of driven college women by connecting them with successful women in a variety of fields. We are a committee within the Barger Leadership Institute in Organizational Studies within the University of Michigan.
