Steve Windhager: “The Sustainable Sites Initiative” Thursday, March 5, 2009 12:00 pm - 1:30 pm; 1024 Dana Building, School of Natural Resources and Environment Please join us for a lunchtime talk by Dr. Steve Windhager, Director of the Landscape Restoration program at the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center in Austin, Texas. Steve is a leader in the Sustainable Sites Initiative , a multi-organizational project that is developing guidelines for land stewardship meant to complement LEED green construction guidelines for buildings. The Sustainable Sites Initiative stands to transform the way we build college campuses, airports, shopping malls, office complexes, and many other projects. Successful stewardship of the natural environment can take place only through the coordinated efforts of many people and organizations. Steve is an exciting and entertaining speaker who will reflect for us both on the goals and accomplishments of the Sustainable Sites Initiative and on the challenges of driving change through the coordination of multiple organizations.
