OS student Gina Valo to be Dec. 05 commencement speaker Sunday, December 18, 2005 Gina Valo's graduation ceremonies will be extra special for both her and OS as she delivers the student commencement address to Fall 2005 graduates and their friends and family. The OS community is proud to have one of their own graduates speaking on this very important occasion. Gina set her sights on the commencement speaker opportunity long ago when she accidentally learned about it while seeking information about the honors program on the web. How did she draft her winning speech to grab the attention of the 12,000 anticipated audience members? " I knew that I had something important to say so I continued to work at it. Most importantly, I believed it was a possibility. I believe very strongly in the power of visualization, so when I went to record the speech for the application, I put on my bath robe, hung a scarf over my shoulders and put a funny hat on my head. I wanted to feel as much in that moment as I could because I knew it would come across in my delivery." After graduation, Gina will put these strong presentation skills to work as tradeshow hostess and director for Ford Commercial Trucks while preparing to pursue her life-long dream of becoming Miss America. |
