Advisory and Organizational Studies Leadership Committee Student Representatives sought
Friday, September 12, 2008

We are seeking two seniors (TOTAL) to represent the Organizational Studies student body at both the OS Advisory Committee and the OS Leadership Committee meetings (for a total of 3 meetings per year). If you are interested in representing your peers and providing the student perspective to these groups, please forward a brief paragraph to Melissa Eljamal (eljamalm@umich.edu) by Friday, September 12. Please include information about your interest in the student representative position and relevant skill set and experience you would bring to the position.

The OS Advisory Committee is comprised of faculty and administrators within and outside OS, and OS student representatives. The most important duty of the student members is to represent the student perspective and to be the voice for other students in the program. The committee meets twice a year (once each semester) and concerns itself most centrally with promoting the excellence of the program to best serve its students, faculty, staff, and graduates and advises the Director on matters of policy and new directions for development.

The OS Leadership Committee is comprised predominantly of UM alumni who are leaders in various sectors (nonprofit, law, finance, manufacturing, hospitality, travel) who have demonstrated both a financial and emotional commitment to the Organizational Studies program. They join us annually in September for our Organizational Studies Leadership Committee meeting to learn about the program’s development, provide feedback from the professional world, and to find new ways to improve the program. They also love to connect with our students. This year’s meeting is on Friday, September 26. Our student representatives would attend the business meeting which would take place from 9am-11am on Friday.

Student representatives would also be responsible for sharing the information they learn from these two groups with their peers in the program.
