The Department's graduate program focuses on the Ph.D. degree, though it also awards the M.A. and offers an M.A. program. International students are welcome. Students can take advantage of the University of Michigan's strength in interdisciplinary studies, including the opportunity to coordinate a Philosophy Ph.D. with a J.D. from the Law School.
The Department commits a package of six years of full financial support to all students admitted to the doctoral program. Enhanced support is available for members of groups traditionally under-represented in the discipline. International students are eligible for full financial support.
Funds permitting, the Department also awards a postdoctoral fellowship to facilitate research and publication to those of its Ph.D.'s who do not immediately secure a tenure-track position. These fellowships do not carry any teaching obligations.
Prospective Graduate students who receive offers of admission, or are placed on the admission waitlist, are invited to visit the Department during Admission Weekend.
