The Department awards the Marshall M. Weinberg Summer Fellowships and the Marshall M. Weinberg Dissertation Fellowships, which are funded through the generosity of Marshall M. Weinberg Endowment for Philosophy. Summer Fellowships, which provide partial summer support, are awarded to one or more graduate students who have shown distinction during their second year of study. The Weinberg Dissertation Fellowship is awarded to a graduate student who has shown distinction during his or her first five years of study, and who is likely to be seeking an academic position in the fall term of his or her sixth year. These fellowships are typically held during the summer between a student’s fifth and sixth year of study. The Department automatically considers all eligible Ph.D. students for these fellowships.
