Professor Fileva works primarily on issues at the intersection of ethics and psychology, such as the motivation (including unconscious motivation) of action, the connection between rational and psychological explanations of action, the influence of character traits on reasons for action, the boundary between rationality and irrationality, etc. She is currently working on a book manuscript provisionally entitled: "Character and Authority." She is also the editor of "Perspectives on Character," an interdisciplinary volume of essays featuring work by leading philosophers, psychologists, and social scientists, forthcoming from Oxford University Press.
