VISITING PROFESSORS
  Craige Roberts

Professor Roberts is visiting from Ohio State University. Her main areas of specialization within linguistics are formal semantics and pragmatics. Within these fields, her principal research interests are:

  • Anaphora, definiteness, and specificity
  • How to formally model the role of context in interpretation: Presupposition, focus, implicature, perspective, and domain restriction
  • The semantics and pragmatics of modality, mood, tense, and aspect

Professor Roberts will be teaching two classes in Fall 2009: PHIL 402 - Undergraduate Seminar in Philosophy Section 001 : Meaning and Use in Language and PHIL 550 - Topics in Philosophy of Language Section 001 : Presupposition and Information Structure.
