Chemicals:
Place unwanted chemicals in tightly closed and labeled bottles. The label must include information about contents and toxicity. Contact Occupational Safety and Environmental Health (OSEH) at (734) 647-1143, for the proper disposal procedure.
For chemical spills: Contact OSEH (734) 647-1143, Physics Technical Services (734) 647-7496, and DPS (734) 763-1131 for clean up.
Glass, Metals and Sharps:
Broken pieces of glass, metal, and sharp objects should be placed in separately labeled containers, not in wastebaskets, to avoid injury to custodial staff. Intact bottles that have been emptied and rinsed out may be placed in the corridor for disposal by the custodial staff. Contact Occupational Safety and Environmental Health (OSEH) at (734) 647-1143, for the proper disposal procedure.
Liquid Nitrogen Dewar's
Departmental policy when filling LN2 Dewar's is that someone must be in attendance when filling a Dewar. Because of safety issues, failure to comply with the policy will result in loss of privileges.
Radioactive materials:
When disposing of radioactive materials, please notify Radiation Control Service, (734) 764-4420 or Physics Technical Services to arrange for pick-up.
