Graduate Student Groups
Grad Phi
Grad Phi is the physics graduate student organization. Members hold both official meetings and informal social events funded by the Physics Department. Participation is completely voluntary, and there are no member dues.
Grad Phi meetings are a forum in which to converse with comrades about life as a physics grad student. It’s also a way to meet other students in the department. First year students are especially encouraged to attend.
Meeting notices are sent by email to those on the mailing list, and posted on first year grad offices. Anyone interested in joining the mailing list should contact the Standing Committee at gp.sc@umich.edu.
Graduate Experience Project
The UM•Sloan Graduate Experience Project* is a comprehensive, university-wide initiative designed to recruit, retain, graduate, and foster the future success of women engineering and physical science students at both the Master's and Ph.D. levels. This program is one of the first programs in the United States tailored to meet the special needs of women pursuing advanced degrees in science and engineering.
