Lab Environment Issue Reporting System

Please click here to report lab down times due to temperature, humidity, power or other types of environmental issues within the Physics laboratories that have interfered with ongoing research. If you believe this issue is a new one, please also contact the Facilities Department as described below.

You may contact the Facilities Department for items such as key requests, office changes, or building issues via the physics.facilities@umich.edu e-mail address.

Shipping and Receiving (Loading Dock)

All deliveries and pick-ups requiring the assistance of Technical Services should be scheduled through Technical Services (i.e. furniture*, lab equipment needing a forklift or pallet jack). All optical table deliveries must be scheduled through Moving and Trucking Central Receiving. Delivery/pick-up hours at Randall Lab are from 7:30 A.M. to 11:45 A.M. and 1:00 P.M. to 3:30 P.M.

Vehicles are not to be left unattended at the loading dock. Violators of this policy are subject to ticketing or towing. Persons requiring special access to load or unload equipment please contact Physics Facilities for assistance.

Custodian Contact Information

Custodial Services hours are from 4:00 A.M. to 12:30 P.M. Monday thru Friday. Please e-mail physics.facilities@umich.edu for any questions/concerns.

Randall Laboratory and West Hall After Hours Access
At this time, the access with U-M Identification is for after hours only after all buildings have card readers. Future plans include having all entrances electronically controlled but only certain doors will have card access. Special events will be handled in the current manner but the doors will be controlled electronically. Currently, the readers are only using the basic feature of locking and unlocking the doors, with no card reader access yet.

Once all doors are put on the system you will need to put in a request to have doors unlocked electronically. Doors opened and left ajar for others to enter will sound an alarm at Building Automation which will send someone from DPS to investigate.

Maintenance

For general building maintenance concerns or questions, please contact Physics Facilities. Building maintenance issues, equipment issues, and building maintenance problems (leaking faucets and pipes, broken windows, fluorescent tube replacement, etc.) should be submitted to Physics Facilities during normal business hours (7 A.M. to 4 P.M.), or stop by the Physics Facilities Office at 1427 Randall with your request. You may use an online Maintenance Service Request to submit a maintenance work request.

For minor building emergencies after normal business hours please call "Plant" at (734) 647-2059. If you call in an urgent request to Plant Services after hours, please contact Physics Facilities the following day and supply the time the work request was called in, date, reason for the work request and tracking number.
