Becoming a PitE Student
During your first general two-years of study as an LSA student, you typically meet with General Advisors in the LSA Academic Advising Center. LSA General Advisors can answer questions concerning LSA degree requirements such as area distribution, language, quantitative reasoning, and race and ethnicity.
If you are considering declaring the concentration or minor in the Environment, you must register for an information session (labeled "PitE Information Session" in the drop-down menu) using the online scheduling system. Each session will be held in room 1160 USB:
Information Sessions (1160 USB):
Wednesday, September 23 from 3-4pm.
Wednesday, October 28 (4-5pm)
Tuesday, November 10 (3-4pm)
Wednesday, November 18th (3-4pm)
Tuesday, December 8th (4-5pm)
The Information Session covers prerequisite, concentration, and minor course requirements, as well as specific courses you may wish to take. You may declare the concentration or minor at one of these information sessions. You do not need to have completed PitE pre-requisites before declaring.
Scheduling an Advising Appointment
If you have questions regarding course planning or concentration requirements, you should make an appointment to see Lead Concentration Advisor Jaime Langdon. If you have Field Experience questions, particularly about internships, you should meet with Program Coordinator Kimberly Smith.

Additional advising appointments have been made available through Sept 25th. More appointments will be scheduled after this date.
Advising questions can also be e-mailed to environment.program@umich.edu.
When you are ready to select specialization courses, the concentration advisor will talk with you about your interests and review the specialization approval process. If necessary, she will refer you to an appropriate faculty member for further help in selecting your courses.
Peer Advising
Peer advisors can help with course planning, concentration requirements, and minor requirements.
