Erin's research interests include discourse theory and race in American politics. Her current research focuses on the formative role that language and racial discourse(s) play in legitimizing political rule. This work provides a conceptual and analytical bridge between contemporary theories of language, American labor and race history, and American Political Development, explaining how racial ideology and discourse embedded within political, legal and cultural institutions constitute racial subjects and popular constituencies.
