  • About

Jonathan graduated from Harvard in 2003, holds an M.A. in Political Science from Michigan, and is a fourth-year Ph.D. candidate in Political Science.  He hails from Pecos, TX, a small town in West Texas, but has lived in many other places since then.  Before graduate school, he worked in politics and policy at the local and state level, and he also taught in many different subject areas, from Government and Economics in high school to GED and ESL for nonprofits.

His interest areas within Political Science include American institutions (legislatures and the bureaucracy, for instance), state and local politics, and representation and policy issues related to poverty and inequality.  His dissertation project focuses on representation issues of the poor within and across states.  In his spare time, he likes to explore Michigan, visit Texas as much as he can, play sports (especially tennis), and read up on current events.
